Privacy Policy

Effective date: 28 May 2026 · Last updated: 28 May 2026 (Asia/Manila)

This policy explains, in plain language, what personal data Kuryente Markets collects, why, and what rights you have under the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173). We state our obligations clearly rather than burying them.

Who we are

Kuryente Markets is published by Kuryente News Multimedia Service (DTI Business Name No. 7940702, ISSN 3116-4307), based in Maslog, Sibulan, Negros Oriental 6201, Philippines. Publisher: Kenneth Lucio L. Tenebro.

What personal data we collect

  • Email address — newsletter signup and, when available, trial or account creation.
  • Name — optional, used only for personalization.
  • Payment information — when you purchase Premium, your payment is processed by PayMongo, a Philippine-licensed payment gateway. We receive a record of the transaction (plan, amount, date, and a payment reference) but never see or store your card, GCash, or e-wallet details — those are handled entirely by PayMongo.
  • Portfolio holdings — stored in your browser’s local storage only. On the free tier they are never transmitted to our servers.
  • Browser analytics — we do not currently run third-party analytics on Kuryente Markets. If we enable analytics in future, this section will be updated to name the provider and the data collected, and any non-essential cookies will be gated behind your consent.

Why we collect it

Per RA 10173 Section 11, our stated purposes are: delivering the service, managing subscriptions, communicating with you, and (where enabled) analytics to improve the service. We collect only what is necessary for these purposes.

Lawful basis

  • Consent — marketing email.
  • Contract performance — a paid subscription, when active.
  • Legitimate interest — security and (where enabled) service-improvement analytics.

Third-party processors

We name the processors that may handle your data:

  • Vercel — website hosting (United States).
  • TradingView — embedded price charts (United States).
  • Brevo — newsletter and email delivery (European Union).
  • PayMongo — payment processing for Premium purchases (Philippines).

Data retention

  • Email is retained while your subscription is active, plus 12 months.
  • Billing records are retained for 10 years, per Bureau of Internal Revenue requirements.
  • Any analytics data is aggregated after 90 days.

Your rights as a data subject

Under RA 10173 you have the right to:

  • be informed about how your data is processed;
  • access the data we hold about you;
  • correct inaccurate data (rectification);
  • have your data deleted or blocked (the right to be forgotten);
  • object to processing;
  • data portability;
  • be indemnified for damages; and
  • file a complaint with the National Privacy Commission.

How to exercise these rights

Email privacy@kuryentenews.com. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe and verify your identity before acting on a request.

Children’s data

Kuryente Markets is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.

International transfers

Some processors (Vercel, TradingView) operate in the United States, so your data may be processed there. We rely on these providers’ contractual and technical safeguards to protect data transferred internationally.

Security measures

We protect data in transit with TLS encryption, encrypt data at rest, and limit access through access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures appropriate to the data we hold.

Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies required for the site to function. If analytics is enabled, analytics cookies will be used and disclosed here. We do not use cookies for advertising on Kuryente Markets.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify subscribers by email.
